JEWELRY TIPS

The day you’ve been dreaming of since you were a little girl is fast approaching. You’ve spent countless hours in preparation to be sure everything is just right. The venue is set, the flowers & photographer chosen. You’ve sampled the food and selected the menu just to mention a few things. The perfect wedding gown is hanging in your closet waiting for that special day. Now it's time to think about the accessories.

What jewelry is just right to accent your gown? Let your personal Latasia Designer help you make that right choice. At Latasia, we pride ourselves on personal service. We’d love to help you make your preparations for your special day a little less stressful.

Here are a few tips that will help you choose the correct jewelry to compliment your gown.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT NECKLACE
FOR YOUR NECKLINE

When choosing a necklace for your wedding day, you want to be sure that it compliments your gown and doesn’t take away from it. Sometimes less is more.

Strapless – Rule of Thumb – Don’t crowd the neckline. You should keep your necklace less than 18" in length. Almost every style will work.

Off The Shoulder – Rule of Thumb – Similar to the Strapless, almost any style will go well with an off the shoulder gown.

V-Neck – Rule of Thumb – Match your neckline. A V Shaped Necklace such as a pendant or a Y- Drop is best suited for this neckline.

Asymmetric – Rule of Thumb – No necklace. Add earrings, a bracelet and a tiara for a great look.

Jewel – Rule of Thumb – A necklace worn high on the throat is best. Try a choker or princess style.

Halter – Rule of Thumb – A Y Drop, Pendant, or Lariat is best suited to a halter as long as the dress is not cut too high or too narrow. When it is, it is best to not wear a necklace. Adding hair accessories, a tiara and the right earrings can add the perfect touch.

Bateau – This very classic neckline calls for a simple one or two strand necklace worn close to the throat. If the dress is beaded, it is best not to wear a necklace as it will take away from your dress. Simply add earrings, a bracelet, hair accessories or a tiara to add a touch of sparkle elsewhere.

Scoop – Almost any style necklace will flatter a scoop neckline. A Choker, Princess, Y Drop, Pendant, or even a Back Dandle for a dramatic look will compliment you well.

NECKLACE LENGTHS

Collars – Typically 12" to 13" made up of three strands and made to sit at the middle of the neck.

Choker – Typically 14" to 16" single strand and made to sit on the collarbone.

Princess – 17" to 19" in length. Typically hang just below the collarbone.

Pendant – 14" to 20" in length, although this can vary.

GENERAL TIPS

Earrings: Heavily beaded dresses call for a very simple earrings.

Watches: Should be avoided by the bride.

Color: A bride can choose to add a splash of color in her earrings, necklace or hair accessories

Create a Family Heirloom: Start the tradition in your family with some Bridal pieces you can pass on for generations to come. Classic pieces, such as pearls are best for this tradition.
